Overview
Strike is a digital wallet app designed for easy Bitcoin transactions and money transfers. Created by Zap, Inc. (founded by Jack Mallers), Strike gained popularity for leveraging the Bitcoin Lightning Network to send money instantly with low fees. The Strike app allows users to buy Bitcoin, send Bitcoin on-chain or via Lightning, and even pay Lightning invoices. For our purposes (paying via Bitcoin on-chain), Strike works much like Cash App: you can link your bank, buy Bitcoin in the app, then withdraw it to an external address. Strike is available in a growing number of countries – originally U.S., Argentina, and El Salvador, and as of 2023 expanded to 65+ countries including much of Europe, UK, Canada, and others . (Note: In the US, Strike is available in most states except New York due to regulatory reasons.) If Strike is supported in your country, it’s a fast and beginner-friendly option.
